Antinisha Harris

My name is Antinisha I am 19 yrs old and I have been here at CSUSB for two years now. The reason why I am running for the for vice president of RHA is because I am familiar with the work that RHA does, and every since I enrolled here at Cal State I have wanted to be involved on campus, but I was always afraid and didn’t know what organization to join. Now that I am familiar with RHA I really would like to be apart of it. I have done volunteer work with the President Shantal Anderson, with such things as helping her set up publicity and prepare for spring week 2008, helping clean up, and helping with different ideas for events. I am a very organized person, I work well with others, communicate with others, I am ambitious, and I feel I can really fulfill my duties as VP. The reason for me running for the position of secretary is because my organization skill are really good, I take really good notes, and I know I can get he job done. I am running for social chair because I am very energetic and I am a very responsible person to make sure that people are getting the job done but, this works both ways I would make sure that they were getting the job done as well for them to make sure that I am doing my duties to the best of my abilities as well, so team work.

Special qualities that I have are: I work well with others, I have worked very closely with the president, I have experience in leadership roles, such as planning and organizing events for my family reunions, I also worked as an assistant for a travel agent business. I am a hard worker and a very conscientious person and very energetic, I have great communication skills, I am very organized, I take well to criticism, I take time to learn, especially from my mistakes, I’m a very helpful person, friendly, goofy, and an all around sport and I am very easy to get along with.

I believe that living on campus is important because it’ s a good way to get to experience life on your own and also it’s a great way to get to meet and get to hang out a with new people. It’s also a good way to get involved in campus life and to become a student leader for future students to come to Cal State it also provides us with so many other opportunities right here on campus. I also believe that if you are on campus you have a better environment to stay focused on your studies and have fun at the same time. It’s also feels that it prepares us all to well for the real life of bills, paying rent, managing money and all that god stuff, but most of all it prepares us for life with out mommy and daddy.

Three things that I would do to make living on campus more desirable are I would try to have monthly events, so that the students would get so bored and want to leave. I would try this because for me being a freshman here and even now I noticed that the campus starts to become dead after all the events stop happening. I would also try to have more dances, because we rarely have any dances and a lot of my peers like to dances and have a fun social gathering in that nature. The last thing that I would do to make campus more fun is to probably have more events in general that would appeal to the students (i.e. back in the day, which is a program where the students can come and play the games that we played in elementary like tether ball, double Dutch and other childhood games like those, and also where they can come and eat all the junk food that we ate as kids.)

Two goals that I would have for the RHA E-board would be one, to have a complete RHA E-board, because I think that many people who get involved in RHA are doing just for the compensation and when they realize that it actual involves work they give up, or if the work is too hard they give up. The second goal that I would have for RHA would be to have an event where they talk to the students about what RHA is all about and what they stand for, because when I first heard about it I was wondering what it was and what do they do?. I would just like for people to recognize how much RHA plays a role in our campus life and how they work together with the RA’s and ASI to make sure that we as students have a good experience in our campus life.
