I am currently the University Village President; I was given this opportunity at the start of the academic year of 2007. I am knowledgeable on how to hold meetings, and I am fully aware of the positions details of being time consuming. I am out going, enthusiastic, strong willed at doing my best not only for myself but others as well. Being that I am easy to talk to about almost everything, I am a good listener to resident’s suggestions, concerns and complaints. I am always willing to improve residential living as best as I can through social interaction events/programs etc. I am running for RHA President because I feel that it’s the best way for my skills to be used at their fullest potential. Such as, I am very organized when it comes to scheduling/balancing my education with responsibilities of President, but planning, and having creative/new inventive ideas that can implemented into meeting structures, events, and residential concerns.

I am organized, generally concerned about social health for residents. I know that the events need to be exciting enough for not only it to capture those dwelling on campus but need to follow through with what’s promised. I am a good leader by that I mean I always hear any grievance, criticism, or objection to its fullest extent and with that I always try my hardest to improve in the highlighted areas of concern. Plus I believe it is nearly the same position I hold now just on a larger scale and know I can be a good leader, and deal with the duties and work load just as well.

I believe living on-campus is important because it not only helps the student achieve their academic goals, but provides a safe social environment and a status of independence and responsibility. It gives the student an opportunity to interact with socially diverse, culturally diverse, academically diverse persons, such as, majors, minors and concentrations. It also gives a chance to the student learning (if they didn’t already know) who they are. There’s so many different things that the student can take in and learn that have possibility to change their life for better.

I would like to improve on the single gender dwelling in residential halls and apartments on campus, and make it co-ed dwelling not only for the LGBT members who wish to live on campus but others such as; brother/sister pairs, and married couples (who are both students). Improving safety and security by placing cameras at all residential hall and apartment entrances but also in the parking lots of all 3 villages. To make living on campus more desirable it has to look desirable, so in the village square and other common areas such as the U.V. Community Center, mostly Village Square give it a new look, update the furniture, pool table, pool table equipment, and the "front desk" area. It needs to be comfortable for all residents and the workers that over see the facility.

My goal would be to continue on the successful interaction such as, The Welcome Week dance/summer bash, the RHA Haunted House, and find a way if possible to improve and build on the foundations previously set. By creating fresh new ideas for resident interaction and learning as well. One of my top priority goals for RHA E-Board would be to implement as much as we can to our programming, personal development as council members, council organization, networking, and management skills that are learned at the PACURH. If any of my goals I’d work on full heartedly this one would be my main fixation. It would be to take what we learn and apply it to our councils weekly, the goal is to make it a work in progress and the reason is to make sure that council has a better understanding of what residents need/want and what the council itself needs to make it happen. I would also have to say that my other goal is to keep RHA E-Board together and leave minimal space inconsistencies in council. I will not allow it to fall away because the residents deserve a full seated council who are willing, enthusiastic, geared to improving resident’s lives, social environments and any concerns brought forth to their attention. Also as a part of this, my goal for RHA E-Board is to leave another torch to be passed to next council to continue to better the lives of residents.
